What’s involved when getting a crown?

1st appointment – Your dentist will usually prepare the tooth by removing any damaged/decayed tooth structure, reshape your tooth and take an impression (mould) of your prepared tooth which is sent to a dental technician who will create your crown. If your crown is being made of tooth coloured material, you’ll be involved in choosing the shade to match the rest of your smile. You will be fitted with a temporary crown if required until your next appointment.

2nd appointment – at this visit you will have the temporary removed if in place and the dentist will show you’re the crown in place and confirm your happy with the result before your new crown is fitted using a strong dental crown adhesive which will bond the crown to your existing tooth. The dentist will show you how to care for your crown.
